THE SLOANE PROTECTORS INC. ("Sloane") provides protector services only. Sloane is completely independent from any other institution. It does not act as a trustee nor as an advisor on structuring trust vehicles.

Sloane is unique in that it has only one business. Since 1993 Sloane has provided protector services to its clientele. The Shareholders, the Corporate Secretary and the President of Sloane all reside in Bahamas. Although Sloane does not act in a fiduciary capacity, Sloane does accept precatory letters (letters of wishes) from interested parties.

Sloane will act as:

  • a protector for trusts or foundations;
  • a co-protector to assist a non-professional protector in the completion of its duties;
  • a successor protector;
  • a protector (enforcer) for a purpose trust.

Dependent upon the wording of a particular trust settlement, Sloane will, for its annual fee, provide the following services:

  • consent, or, refuse to consent, to an action proposed by a trustee;
  • add or delete beneficiaries;
  • remove a trustee or trustees and appoint a new trustee or trustees; or
  • change the residency of the trust.

All of these matters are negotiated by Sloane when it accepts an appointment as a protector. Sloane will not accept an appointment as a protector where the trust documentation requires the protector to act in a fiduciary capacity.
